Clifford Carl Anderson, 61, of Jasper

Clifford Carl Anderson, 61, of Jasper died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton in Birmingham. Funeral services will be held today, July 22, at 11 a.m. in Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New Hope Cemetery in Sipsey. Barbra Morgan will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Adell Anderson; and grandchild, Alexis Roneashea Wilson.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Lynn (Anderson) Austin and Felicia Jo (Anderson) Haywood; mother, Ila Jean (Clark) Anderson; sisters, Shirley (Anderson) Guthrie and Libby (Anderson) Morgan; grandchildren, Toni, Bedford, Nickie, Randy, Justin and Spencer; and brothers, Michael Anderson and Charles Anderson.

Edgar Larry Corcoran Sr.

Edgar Larry Corcoran Sr. passed away July 20, 2008, at a local hospital. He started work as a part-time writer for the Mountain Eagle in Jasper, Alabama. Afterwards, he worked for several different newspapers, including the DeKalb County News, Cedartown Standard and Birmingham News. He served as an administrative assistant to Gov. Albert P. Brewer in 1968-1971. He retired from the Birmingham Parking Authority in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Suzanne McClure. He is survived by his wife Peggy and his son Edgar L. Corcoran Jr. and two granddaughters.

Services will be at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper at 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2008.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Nancy Leanna Jenkins, 41, of Graysville

Nancy Leanna Jenkins, 41, of Graysville, formerly of Cordova, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services will today at 7 p.m. in Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper. Visitation will be today from 6 until 7 p.m. in the chapel at the funeral home. Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Carma Earley; special friend, Lottie “Her Lil Saver;” grandfather, James Sickles; aunt Robin Short; and a number of great aunts, uncles, special cousins and friends.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Dean Earley; father, Lecil Earley; daughter, Jamison Jenkins; son, Andrew Malcolm Jenkins; sister, Krystal Elaine Knight; niece, Ashley Storm Mooney; nephew, C.J. Knight; aunts, Margaret Tidwell Bowlin, Jeanette Sickles and Denise Owens; uncles, James Sickles, Harold Sickles, Bill Owens and Tim Short; and grandparents, Florence Coates and Effie M. “Granny Effie” Short.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N.E., Atlanta, GA. 30329.
